The New How to Drug Proof Your Kids is Launched

On Wednesday 12th August, 2009, the new DPYK program was successfully launched by the Hon Bill Shorten, Parliamentary Secretary for Disability and Children’s Services. The function was held at Parliament House, Canberra and was well attended by parliamentary members and leaders from across government and non-government sectors. Shadow Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs the Hon. Tony Abbott spoke at the event on behalf of the Coalition. Mr Abbott praised the program saying it was "not done in a way to engender moral panic but was about empowering parents".

The launch generated a lot of interest amongst politicians and other leaders from around the country.  Many were interested in how the DPYK program is currently used, and could be used, in their local area.  Many too asked for information that they could disseminate through their own networks via newsletters and various publications, which Focus was happy to provide.  And ongoing discussions are taking place as to how we might further support them in their commitment and various roles to strengthen families across Australia.
